CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

1983 - Started racing in the Jim Russell Racing School for Formula Fords and finished second in the series with seven wins. Won the Gilles Villeneuve Rookie Award.

1984 - Placed second in the Formula Mazda Pro Series Championship.

1986 - Won three races in the Mazda Pro Series. Won debut race in the Pro Sports 2000. Presented with the Mazda Pro Series' "Star of Tomorrow Award" and recognized by Sportscar Magazine as one of America's top new driving talents.

1988 - Scored four wins and finished second, by a two-point margin, in the SCCA Race Truck Series Championship with Spencer Low Racing. Named the Race Truck Rookie of the Year.

1989 - Scored five top-ten finishes en route to placing 10th in debut season of the Japanese Formula 3000.

1990 - Placed seventh in Japanese Formula 3000 Championship with the Suntec team. Scored three top-ten finishes, including a third, in the Japanese Group A Championship. Selected as On Track Magazine's "America's Choice Award".

1991 - Earned several point finishes in third season of Japanese Formula 3000. Competed in the Japanese Group C Championship with the TWR-Jaguar XJR 11, and later the Jaguar XJR-14. Raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the TWR-Jaguar team.

1992 - Finished second in the Group C class of the 24 Hours of Daytona. Won the opening round of the Japanese Group C Championship. Won class at the Japanese round of the World Sportscar Championship in the Suzuka 1000km race. Competed in Japanese Formula 3000 with Speed Star Racing Team. Selected by RACER as "Tomorrow's Star Choice".

1993 - Scored a second-place finish in Japanese Formula 3000 with Speed Star Racing Team. Co-drove the NISMO GT-R Skyline entry in the International Suzuka 1000km race.

1994 - Placed second overall and first in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans after leading more than 12 hours with the SARD-Toyota team. Competed in Japanese Formula 3000 Championship with Speed Star Racing. Lead driver for SARD-Toyota factory GT team garnering poles for both races entered.

1995 - Finished 14th at the 24 Hours of Le Mans debuting the new Toyota Supra GTI prepared by the SARD-Toyota team. Competed in Japanese Formula 3000, with 5Zigen team, scoring two third places. Finished seventh in Japanese GT Championship with SARD-Toyota team.

1996 - First season in CART driving for the Toyota powered Arciero-Wells team. Sponsored by MCI, Jeff anchored AWR in the first season CART teams used Toyota engines. Constantly improved qualifying and finishing positions from qualifying 25th and finishing 22nd in Miami to eventually qualifying 20th in Toronto and finishing 15th in Detroit. Both were the finest efforts to date in '96 for a Toyota powered engine.
